What you hide from others, God still sees...
Never let yourself think that you are wiser than you are; simply obey the LORD and refuse to do wrong. | Proverbs 3:7
Years ago I started a job as a receptionist at an Advertising agency in midtown NYC, I worked on the top floor and my bosses were located on the bottom. I had the second shift (another receptionist arrived about an hour and a half before I did) because my bosses were not around and because the desk was covered by another receptionist before I got there, I did not think it was a big deal if I showed up late here and there. But that here and there started becoming habitual, it became common for me to show up 15, 30, sometimes 45 minutes late and not really care (heart was hardened aka boastfully sinning aka biblical transgression - one day I will do a study on the diff types of sin).
But around this time, I was reading my bible and began to realize that showing up to work habitually late w/o concern was, according to God’s standards, theft. I thought that theft was only reserved for those who knowingly took money from others (credit card theft, bank theft, etc.) Or that because my bosses could not see me that somehow God could not see? What a fool I was. Long story short, I now try my hardest to now truly earn that which I receive - I still fail sometimes because I am a sinner but that is where God meets me where I am currently at. I look past what I can gain and try to instead live a life that is pleasing to the Lord because when we turn towards His ways that is when we are able to truly be a blessing to others. Becoming aware of my sin (remember you cannot judge yourself, the bible has to do it for you) has allowed me to draw closer to the person God wants me to be, which is like His son Jesus Christ.
So maybe you are hiding from your bosses b/c you are showing up late? Or maybe from your husband/wife b/c you are doing something they would disapprove of? Maybe you are blocking people on social media b/c you do not want the authorities to find out? Maybe you are ignoring calls from bill collectors? Maybe you are hiding from your landlord? And if you are an NYC landlord, we already know you are probably hiding from your tenants lol but please keep in mind, you can never hide from the Lord.
But, because God is so good, He gives all of us sinners (btw we are all sinners that is why we need a Savior) the opportunity to repent and turn from our ways so that we can be washed from our sin and follow Him: And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. So, no need to hide anymore, turn to God and He will turn to you.
